"You Glow" Art Journal - Mixed Media - Dewdrops Collection

Writer: Nina SalemNina Salem

hi everyone Nina here thanks for joining me today so we can create this beautiful mixed media art Journal using dreamy new collection from stamperia called Dewdrops.

art journal mixed media dewdrops collection

I am using a lot of new products, they are all linked by the end of the article.

To create the background we will start by cutting two rice paper just by hand , I do have a rice paper glue I just couldn't find it in my working area so instead of wasting time I decided to just use my matte media glue.

The next step I'm going to use the patterns stamp set that I just bought to stamp directly with archival ink on the page without an acrylic block or anything just so it would not give a perfect impression and it will look a little sketchy matching the design of this art Journal.

I wanted to darken the edges to make them a little more pinkish all around I am using Worn Lipstick Distress Ink to match my focal point, the girl wearing a pink outfit from the Cutouts of the Dewdrops collection.

We will use vintage photo Distress ink to lightly ink the edges of all our cutouts to make them pop against the background and define their edges.

Using my sponge dabber and vintage photo ink I am using this beautiful stencil and dabbing a little bit by little bit on the stencil giving prominent frame look around my page a mixture of texture, leaves, flowers and branches. Every little detailed add to the a lovely visual texture of our background.

The last step is sprinkling some ink drops here and their on the page for that I smooshed distress ink pads, vintage photo and black, on my glass mat sprayed a little water and lifted some on my paint brush and flicked it on the page to give a beautiful extra detail to the background

The next step I'm going to add my focal points, the girl image and the photo frame. I backed the girl with foam tape and added it to the bottom right corner and a photo frame on the left top. I used my scoring board to score the frame to be able to fold it in half then placed a flower cutout coming out of it and glued few branches coming behind it.

I then added few flowers and leaves to the right of the girl image.

I found some bubbles images in the rub-ons of the dewdrops collection so I scattered some clusters on the empty areas of the page.

For the final touch I used my Art by Marlene White Acrylic marker to add some highlights on all the images.
